Wish List Items

not currently in PowerSchool or PowerTeacher but requested by staff

Ability for two people to be in a teacher's PowerSchool at the same time. Sometimes a student teacher and the teacher need to both work in PowerSchool simultaneously.  Sometimes a teacher and a parapro might need to be in PowerSchool at the same time.  e.g.- to enter two different sets of grades, or one person is entering attendance, looking up a students history or schedule, and the other person is entering grades, or putting in new assignments, etc, etc...

I wish we could click on a special education student's name and have the list of classroom accommodations/and testing accommodations that are on the student profile sheets pop up for us.  It would be helpful to be able to refer to them right in PowerTeacher.

PowerTeacher: Gradebook setup, creating Assignments

  • Copy more than one assignment from class to class.
  • Due date range for assignments that are due on rotating schedules (ex: 9/2 - 9/5).
  • Apply all category weights and term weight settings to all classes/semesters.
  • I would like the ability to add student nicknames.
  • It would be nice if the error message that occurs when the Assignment Abbreviation is too long would actually state the problem instead of stating "A System Error has Occurred."
  • Missing/late assignment flags
  • Getting into the gradebook is a three step process once we are online with PowerTeacher. First we click on "Gradebook" in the button menu underneath "PowerTeacher", then another page comes up and we have to click on "Launch Gradebook", then we wait until the "Trust" window pops up, then we wait for the gradebook to load. Can we get this down to one click, rather than three?
  • Ability to highlight one student's line in the scoresheet and hide all other students.

PowerTeacher: Grading and Publishing

  • Able to select multiple, but not all, students to mass fill grades.
  • Be able to set up and print classroom seating charts.
  • I would like to print out a report in graph form that shows student percentages in my class.
  • I would like the Keyboard Shortcuts listed in menus to work.
  • Uploading our stuff (i.e. worksheets) on to the site as attachments.
  • Currently, UNDO is not possible in scoresheet or Inspector. Data can be lost, Revert is a poor workaround.
  • For typing/re-using custom comments, I would like Select All to work in Score Inspector.
  • Current Comment palette is unwieldy and forces teacher to hand type. Custom comment palette, numerical entry, QuickFill entry, or other shortcuts are necessary to get all teachers to use Comments.
  • Comments for final grades are immediately posted to the public portal, an option for when to publish is needed.
  • Currently, anyone with an administrator access (like teacher consultants, guidance counselors, cannot see the comments that teachers put in to explain grades on specific assignments.  They need to be able to do this.
  • Add comments to student grade area so they can click and see what teachers write about each assignment.
  • In the score inspector with the check boxes like "collected," "missing," etc., I'd like to be able to customize some boxes to have check boxes for "Not Mastery," "See teacher," and "Absent" to name just a few. Also, a check box with "Retake date" that opens a text field to write in a date or day and time would be great.
  • If a student is marked absent in Power School, it would be nice if that absence could somehow be recognized by PS Gradebook so that any assignment due and entered on that day would have an indication for which students were absent.

PowerTeacher: Reports

  • Class list print outs should include class period not just the class name.  Hard copies do not indicate hour at this time.
  • Class lists should include consecutive numbers for each student so we can tell at a glance how many kids are in a class and also tell a student, "You are #17."
  • I would like to have things like Late, Missing and Exempt show up in the Reports I run.
  • In Roster report, column ordering and column width can be edited in Preview.  Need column widths to carry over to .pdf.  Excel is an unpleasant alternative.
  • When printing out a scoresheet, I have to set image at 90 percent in order for the date and Sections to print out correctly  (at the very top and bottom of page).  Can the parameters be set so that all info shown will print out without having to make this adjustment each and every time?
  • When I exempt a student from an assignment through Score Inspector, and then print out my scoresheet through Reports, the grade shows up as "ex", as it should.  When I print out the students grades by going through the backpack, to Quick Look-up and then click on my class, the assignments that the student was "exempted" from do not even show up in the list of assignments.  When I print out the students grades through Individual student reports,  the assignment is listed, but there is no indication of "ex" beside the assignment.  It is simply blank where the "ex" or a score would normally be.  The assignments that a student is exempted from do still need to show up as an assignment on ALL reports.  Parents, student, TCs should be able to see this assignment to be able to click in and see what it involved.  and we also need to show that a student was exempted from these assignments.  Not listing the assignment, or listing it and simply having a blank beside it is not good!

PowerSchool Attendance

  • A photo staff directory would be great.
  • It would be helpful for teachers to be able to run attendance reports by selected dates or by quarter in order to track tardies AND absences.
  • If there were a keyboard shortcut to switch from Present to Tardy to Unverified it would speed up the attendance procedure.
  • Viewing students in two columns so entire class fits on screen would speed up attendance procedure.
  • Principals might find Daily Bulletin more useful if it could appear on the Start Page; teachers taking attendance would be sure to see an important posting.
  • Displaying accumulated quarter tardies for a class next to a student's name in the attendance window would be helpful allowing easy monitoring of habitually tardy students without looking them up individually.
  • It would be very helpful to have the medical alerts, special ed icons, and a 504 icon right next to the student names in the class roster/attendance list.  Currently, the teacher has to click on each student individually and one at a time, to see if there are special needs or accommodations.  (We should not have to dig to uncover a flag...)
  • If a student is marked absent in Power School, it would be nice if that absence could somehow be recognized by PS Gradebook so that any assignment due and entered on that day would have an indication for which students were absent.

It would be nice to be able to see attendance list in a custom order (e.g. by instrument in band or orchestra).

I would like to be able to see the ranking of students within an individual class.

I would like MEAP and SRI scores to be accessible on a page in teacher records.
